Fall Book Sale a Huge Success!
Thanks to folks donating tons of
books, thanks to some nifty new signs which helped alert folks to where
and when the book sale was happening, thanks to a great large space
provided by the DeWitt Community Center, and finally thanks to lots of
hard work on the part of Friends volunteers (and especially Friends
President Kathy Eiferle) our annual fall book sale raised a whopping
$1,548.70. Many thanks to all the Friends (and their families) for
helping make this year's sale such a success!
Ox Roast Used Book Sale a
Success
Over the two
evenings of Ox Roast the Friends made $456.00 by selling used books
under the library’s tent. Many families took the opportunity to stop,
browse, and buy… The kids books were especially popular with
homeschooling parents, classroom teachers, and of course kids! The
fiction books were popular with seniors, and with folks looking for some
good ‘summer reads’ to take up to their cottage. Overall, a great time
was had by all… Thanks to all the Friends who donated books and help
sell them… and to Brian T. for toting the book boxes from and to
storage.
'Movies in the Park' Raises
$330.00

The Friends sponsored an
autograph signing at Movies in the Park and worked the concessions
stand. All the money raised helps support
the wonderful programming already occurring at our library. |
Friends at the Farmer's
Market
The Friends will have a table at the
Farmers Markets on August 18th, September 8th and September 29th. We
will be selling jarred spiced tea and other goodies as well as our tee
shirts. Anyone interested in joining the Friends should stop by (as
we'll also have membership applications!) See you there!!!
Friends Walk for a Cause
At the end of May, a
group of us from the Friends of the DeWitt Public Library, along with a
number of librarians and their loved ones participated in the Relay for
Life. This 24-hour event raised $30,039 for the American Cancer
Society. Our group alone raised $1,200. Thank you - Kathy Eiferle, Sue
Cassidy, Gudrun Buffa, Mike and Nichole Bijorne, Jennifer Vick, Gail
Prado, Kristine Reigler, Sarah Gustafson, Nancy Avery, Sue Johnston,
Jill Zeeb, and all of their loved ones for their time and commitment for
finding a cure!
Friends Help Out at Photography Program
Over 80 folks attended a Library workshop/slide show on nature
photography at the DeWitt Community Center on February 21st. The Friends
provided refreshments. They also sold tee shirts and book bags, as well
as had membership application available. A great time was had by all!
Friends Sell Tee Shirts
"Some of My Best Friends are
Fictional" is what the new Friends tee shirt proudly exclaims. On the
back of the tee is the Friends logo. Childrens shirts are maroon and
adult shirts are brown and are only $10...(see the picture above!) If you join the
Friends you can purchase one for only $8. Contact Kathy Eiferle if you would
like one!
DeWitt Reads!
The DPL,
with support from the DPL Friends Group, held a community
reading incentive called 'DeWitt Reads'. Funds raised by the Friends
Group at the Farmers Market last summer were used to sponsor books
for DeWitt Reads. Below, President Kathy Eiferle presents a check
for $228 to Library Board President Wayne Summers.
